  • Teacher Residency Orientation in mid-August at the Arbor School.

  • Full time co-teaching experience in one of Arbor’s K-8th grade classrooms.

  • Daily support and instructional coaching from experienced mentors.

  • University classes held on-site at Arbor in the evening, online, and on occasional Saturdays at Pacific’s Forest Grove campus.

  • Instructional Rounds within other grade levels and academic disciplines at Arbor.

  • Coursework Fall 2020:

    • EDUC 606: Critical Perspectives on Identity & Social Systems - 3 Credits

    • EDUC 664: Learning & Teaching: Social Studies & General Methods - 3 Credits

Semester 2 — Spring

January⁠—june

  • Increased responsibility for teaching in Arbor classrooms with particular focus on developing units of study in math, science, and literacy.

  • University classes held on-site at Arbor in the evening, online, and on occasional Saturdays at Pacific’s Forest Grove campus.

  • Instructional Rounds extend to other school settings.

  • Coursework Spring 2021:

    • EDUC 668: Learning & Teaching: Expressive Arts - 2 Credits

    • EDUC 669: Learning & Teaching: Math/Science/Health - 4 Credits

    • EDUC 680: Preparing the edTPA - 1 Credit

Semester 3 — Summer

June—August

  • Summer School teaching opportunities available at Arbor School.

  • University classes held online and at Pacific’s Forest Grove campus.

  • Opportunity to work in summer school camp at Arbor.

    • EDUC 612: Teaching & Inquiry I: Fundamentals of Teaching through Inquiry - 1 Credits

  • Completion of the Teacher Performance Assessment (edTPA) in Arbor classrooms.

  • Second teaching placement in a local public school one day per week.

  • University classes held once weekly at Arbor and on Saturdays at Pacific’s Forest Grove campus.

  • Coursework Fall 2021:

    • EDUC 667: Learning & Teaching: Literacy Development - 4 Credits

    • EDUC 653: Teaching & Inquiry II: Critical Perspectives Inquiry - 2 Credits

January—june

  • Month-long teaching placement in a local public school and completion of the Teacher Inquiry Project (TIP).

  • Month-long solo teaching experience within Arbor classrooms.

  • University classes held on-site at Arbor in the evening, online, and on occasional Saturdays at Pacific’s Forest Grove campus.

  • Support with job application and interview process.

  • Coursework Spring 2022:

    • EDUC 614: Teaching & Inquiry III: Critical Analysis & Decision Making - 2 Credits

    • EDUC 673: Teaching Seminar - 2 Credit

    • EDUC 672: Student Teaching - Teacher Inquiry Project (TIP) - 3 Credits
